Air Adventures Flight Instruction is more than just a flight school. We're an aviation family made up of people that share a passion for flying. We offer a wide array of services that includes fixed-wing flight training, helicopter flight training, flight reviews, and aircraft rental.

We are conveniently located along Interstate 75 in Northwest Georgia at Tom B. David Airport (KCZL) in Calhoun, Georgia approximately half-way between Atlanta and Chattanooga. Our instructors have logged more than 25,000 combined hours of flight and are here to help you through every step of your journey. Come earn your wings with us!

Discovery Flight

Experience flight from the pilot's seat

A 60-minute instructor-led flight with up to two additional people.

You are introduced to the training aircraft and shown how the controls affect the aircraft both in flight and on the ground. The flight will be in the local area of the airport.

In order to log any of the flight time you will need to present either a US Birth Certificate or a Current US Passport. The cost for the one hour discovery flight is $150.

  • 10 hr discount blocks are available at a $10/hr reduced rate on aircraft.
  • Advanced Instruction rates in fixed-wing aircraft are an additional $5/hr.
  • Due to rising fuel cost a Fuel Surcharge may be added and adjusted as fuel prices change.

Flight training questions

Can I log my Discovery Flight?

Yes. In order to log your discovery flight, you must show a valid passport or US Birth Certificate at the time of the flight.

Is it hard to pass the Checkride?

Not if you have properly prepared through instruction, self study, and practice.

How old do you have to be to solo?

You must be at least 16 years old and hold at least a Third Class Medical in order to solo in a powered fixed wing aircraft.

What are the requirements to get a private pilot license?

You must be at least 17 years old, hold at least a Third Class Medical, pass the FAA Private Pilot Written Test and have received a minimum of 40 hours training in order to sit for the Private Pilot Test in a powered fixed wing aircraft.

How much does it cost to get a private pilot license?

Estimated Cost @ 40 Hours is $10,600. Estimated Cost @ 70 Hours is $16,500.

How long does it take to get a private pilot license?

Estimated Average Time to get a PPL is 6 to 9 Months.

How much does it cost to get a commercial pilot license?

What are the requirements to become a flight instructor?

You must hold an Instrument and Commercial Rating, pass the appropriate FAA Written Exams, receive flight and ground instruction, and pass the Practical and Oral Knowledge Checkride Test.

How much does it cost to become a flight instructor?

Estimated Cost is $6,000 beyond your Instrument and Commercial Ratings.

How often do I need to get a Flight Review?

Flight reviews must be accomplished each 24 months in order for you to exercise your Private Pilot Privileges. It can be done with a CFI, while obtaining additional ratings or during completion of a Wings Program phase level.

How much does an Instrument Proficiency Check cost?

The estimated cost depends on the number of hours it takes for you to become proficient as an Instrument Rated Pilot. Your cost may vary with hours.
